Yverdon-les-Bains, Switzerland – Symbios today announced the launch of the ORIGIN® PS Modular, which completes the ORIGIN® PS Total Knee System with a modular version for the tibial baseplate and four length optionsof stem extension.
Although the ORIGIN® PS Modular knee remains with the same design fundamentals as the monobloc version, this modular versionwill allow to increase the tibial baseplate stability with several lengths of cemented stems that will allow surgeons to extend their indications for their use of the ORIGIN® PStotal knee, including but not only high-BMI patients, post-traumatic and/or post-osteotomy cases, or patients with poor bone quality.
As with the monobloc version, the ORIGIN® PS Modular will be delivered in a single package including implants and single-use instruments. The tibial baseplate will be delivered already pre-assembled with the extension stem that will have been pre-selected by the surgeon during the preoperative planning phase, thus simplifying greatly the intraoperative technique for stem assembly and representing a step forward in increasing operative efficiency for total knee replacement.
