Yverdon-les-Bains, Switzerland – Symbios is delighted to announce plans to build a new 12,000 m2 factory at the Y-Parc science park in Yverdon-les-Bains. The aim of this new site is to increase production capacity to keep pace with growth in the coming years, as well as to equip the company with a new head office in line with its ambitions.
Founded in 1989, Symbios is a Swiss medical technology company and the leader in custom-made orthopaedic implants for the hip and knee. Since its inception and drawing on 30 years of clinical experience, Symbios has pioneered and continuously improved the technology of custom-made implant manufacturing, gaining unmatched expertise in the field worldwide.
Symbios plans to significantly increase its production capacity for its highly successful custom-made hip and knee product lines by deploying a new state-of-the-art industrial site to support its international development and growth strategy. Over the next five years, Symbios targets doubling its turnover by strengthening its historical market in Europe and above all by developing its presence in the Asia-Pacific markets.
Construction of the new building is set for September 2020 and aims to be completed by the end of 2021. The building should then be operational in the first quarter of 2022, followed by a transfer of production activities from the current site to the new site by the end of 2022.
Symbios has been present in the Yverdon-les-Bains municipality since 1993, and moved to the Y-Parc technology park in 2007. For this new project designed to support the company for the next fifteen years, Symbios’ management has chosen to stay in Yverdon-les-Bains, and specifically at Y-Parc, located in the heart of the Health Valley, one of the most prestigious medical industry clusters in the world. Symbios is therefore ideally located between Lausanne and Bern, and benefits from privileged access to talent from Switzerland’s top universities and companies.
