HIP-PLAN® TRAINING

“By failing to prepare, you are preparing to fail”

Winston Churchill (1874-1965)

The limitations of conventional planning

Layer-based 2D planning based on X-ray has shown significant limitations in terms of accuracy, which has led to low reliability in pre-operative planning. While total hip arthroplasty is generally a successful procedure, this lack of precision in preoperative planning may lead the surgeon to encounter anatomical difficulties or the limitations of the implants intraoperatively. This ultimately risks limiting the surgeon’s options during the operation and can impact the final result of the operation (e.g. difference in leg length, risk of dislocation, excessive lateralisation associated with pain, poor positioning of the implants, risk of fracture, etc.).

About HIP-PLAN®

In 2007, Symbios launched HIP-PLAN®, easy-to-use 3D preoperative planning software that allows surgeons to plan Symbios implants from a simple scan. 3D preoperative planning has proven to be more accurate than 2D planning in anticipating implant size, as well as simultaneously restoring leg length and femoral offset. It can therefore provide a technical advantage in surgical practice in terms of quality and reliability.

A training programme to help you adopt the technology

To help surgeons learn about 3D preoperative planning and to minimise their learning curve and improve their planning experience, Symbios offers a comprehensive and progressive training programme on the HIP-PLAN® software.
