Personalized planning service

Leveraging 30 years of experience in 3D planning and its proprietary KNEE-PLAN® technology, Symbios provides the surgeon with a high value-added preoperative planning service.

  • Individualized implant planning for each patient, based on the analysis of his or her constitutional morphotype and pathological deformity.
  • Respect of the surgeon’s preferences for preoperative planning.
  • Communication with Symbios planners via Symbios Connect to ask questions or modify planning.
  • Simple planning approval: 1 click is enough.

Precise positioning of the implants

With KNEE-PLAN® guides, surgeons benefit from a tool that combines high technology and ease of use to make cuts and position implants precisely.

  • KNEE-PLAN® guides to reproduce planned cuts during 3D preoperative planning.
  • Superior accuracy over conventional instrumentation for implant positioning (1) (2) .
  • Cutting directly on KNEE-PLAN® guides.
  • Stability of the femoral and tibial guides ensured by 4-5 point supports resting on the osteophytes.
  • Guides are delivered with the patient’s bone models to allow precise identification of the supports.
  • Numerous checks available to verify the correct positioning of the guides before making the cuts.
  • Several guide designs to allow easy positioning and optimal visibility regardless of the approach chosen by the surgeon.

More operational efficiency

In addition to individualized KNEE-PLAN® guides, Symbios supplies a complete set of disposable instruments for the planned FIRST implant sizes. The surgical technique for knee prosthesis placement is made simple and efficient, maximizing the productivity of the medical team and reducing the hospital’s operating costs.

  • Significant reduction in instrumentation required: 1 single basket of instruments compared to 5 to 6 baskets for conventional instrumentation.
  • Reduced instrument preparation time.
  • Reduction in the number of surgical steps and therefore in the operating time for the placement of the prosthesis.
  • Reduction in the cost of instrument reprocessing by the hospital (cleaning, sterilization, storage).
  • Reduction of the risk of infectious contamination through the use of single-use instruments.
  • Delivery of sterile KNEE-PLAN® guides to the operating room within 5 weeks of receipt of the scan at Symbios.
