Complications

There are many reasons why a prosthesis may develop complications. Some are serious, but most are extremely rare.

Complications are of two types :

- medical complications due to the surgical procedure
- complications affecting the prosthesis that may require a revision   operation

For the patient, it is important to both consider and understand the statistics on revision operations. They indicate the most frequent complications and degree of seriousness.
